A proud successor to the historic Gladzor medieval university
Yerevan Gladzor University traces its roots to the historic Gladzor University, a medieval Armenian educational institution that operated from 1321 to 1340 in Gladzor village, Yeghegnadzor region, Vayots Dzor. For over 600 years, it served as a renowned center of learning and intellectual excellence.
In 1990, Yerevan Gladzor University was founded with a clear mission: to become a worthy successor to this historic legacy. From its inception, the university was committed to providing a high level of education through high-quality academic-teaching staff, rich educational programs, comprehensive course syllabi, and strong academic potential.
Over the past 35 years, the University's governing body, academic-teaching personnel, and administrative staff have been consistently and firmly implementing an educational-academic procedure in compliance with international standards. Today, having served thousands of students across its five faculties, YGU stands as a testament to sustained excellence in medical education.
Yerevan Gladzor University's academic-teaching staff is reinforced by well-known specialists in the Republic—specialists with great experience and knowledge. Through their dedicated efforts, Gladzor has earned a great reputation and secured a worthy place in the higher education system of the Republic of Armenia.
In 2005, YGU achieved significant international recognition when it was awarded the Gold Medal of High Quality in Performance at the 9th International Conference on High Quality in Business in Geneva, Switzerland. The university also received a Certificate for cooperation with the Fund Declaration, solidifying its commitment to excellence on the global stage.
In 2015, YGU became the first medical university in Armenia to introduce stereoscopic 3D medical education technology, developed in consultation with eminent doctors from India. This pioneering step demonstrated the university's commitment to innovation and modern teaching methodologies.
Today, the university has expanded to 5 faculties and 102 academic departments, serving students from diverse backgrounds worldwide. YGU continues to provide world-class medical education that combines traditional values with cutting-edge technology and international best practices.

Ministry of Education Accreditation (2001)
Yerevan "Gladzor" University was accredited on July 25, 2001 by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia (for all operating educational programs, except for the "Foreign Language" specialty).
Program Accreditation (2004-2010)
In 2004, the "Foreign Language" specialty was accredited by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia. "Gladzor" was one of the first universities in Armenia to participate in the pilot program accreditation process according to European criteria and guidelines in 2010 for the "Armenian Language and Literature" specialty.
Institutional Re-Accreditation (2015)
In 2012, "Gladzor" participated in the institutional accreditation process according to European criteria and guidelines, as a result of which it was re-accredited on March 21, 2015.
